District 1 Fire & Rescue is always recruiting new members and we bring in new volunteers in groups of three or four. This ensures that the new volunteers are on the same training track and we can give them the time needed for training. Click here to get on our list for the next volunteer group.
There is no formal training needed. In fact, once you become a member, we will provide all training, uniforms and protective gear free of charge. Here at District 1 we run our own TCFP fire Academy and our members have access to District 3 EMS’ EMT academy. There is no cost for members in good standing for either certification.
Volunteering, or being a Reserve Firefighter as we call them, is a great way to serve your community and even prepare you for a paid career in the Fire service. District 1 offers a unique way to become involved with a professional department while furthering your education and gaining valuable on the job training. In the past three years seven of our reserve members have gone on to paid careers.
Reserve Firefighters who become certified or already are certified firefighters become eligible for our stipend program. Certified members can earn up to $500.00 a month by standing shifts at one of our stations.
Firefighting is a fun and rewarding job but there is a time commitment. Reserve members are required to commit 36 hours per month through standing shift, training and responding to calls.
To get started please fill out the online interest form and one of our members will contact you with further details.
