District 1 Fire & Rescue is a combination fire department that serves the greater La Vernia area, including Kicaster and Sutherland Springs, Texas. First due area covers 126 square miles of North Wilson County and the City of La Vernia. Fire Station 1, located in La Vernia, is staffed 24/7  by 4 professional firefighters, 24/7, and  Station 2, located at FM 775 and FM 3432, is staffed by 3 professional firefighters 24/7.   Our paid staff is supported by a dedicated group of highly trained volunteer firefighters.  District 1 responds to approximately 1800 calls per year.
