Wilson County District 1 Fire & Rescue  serves the western half of Wilson County, Texas. The District provides Fire, Rescue and Emergency Medical First Response to approximately 362 square miles of  Wilson county and includes the Cities of La Vernia, Stockdale and the areas of Sutherland Springs and Kicaster.

Station 1, located in La Verniaand is staffed 24/7 by 4 professional Firefighters and 1 Battalion Chief.  Fire Station 2, located at FM 775 and FM3432 is staffed by 3 professional Firefighters, 24/7.   Station 3 will be coming online in June/July of 2024 located in downtown Stockdale.  The Stockdale station will be staffed with 3 professional Firefighters 24/7.  Our paid staff is also supported by a group of dedicated and highly trained volunteers.

Our fleet consists of  3  Rescue/Engines, 2 Engines, 4 Brush trucks, 1 Light Rescue, 2 Command vehicles,  2 Water Tenders, and 1 Rescue Boat, 1 Reserve engine and 1 Reserve Brush truck.  The District has 1 new brush truck on order (ETA 1st quarter of 2025) and 1 new Engine on order (ETA 2027)

The District responds to approximately 2500 calls per year.
